The congregation in Custer, South Dakota is searching for an experienced Minister of the Gospel. We are located in a mission field area and have a great  potential  for growth.  We are seeking a person to help edify the congregation and to reach out to a friendly small town community which is experiencing a boom in growth.

The person we seek is someone who is doctrinally sound and teaches the pure word of the first century Gospel.  We  welcome applications from a man with a faithful family who will be a positive asset to the congregation.  He must not only have a firm Gospel foundation, he should be committed to personal work and church  growth.  We especially desire a person who is experienced in conducting home Bible studies.  We need to spread the Word into the surrounding community as well as edify our congregation.

This location will require an exceptional man who is willing to work under sometimes difficult conditions, yet provide a motivating influence to the members.  The opportunities are there and we believe that the right person can have the church in a self-supporting position within a reasonable time.

The congregation consists of about 8 members.  It has been established for many years, but we have been without a full time minister for a long time.  Many of our members have relocated for business reasons.  Age and death has accounted for others.   We do not have elders.

We do own our own building which has excellent facilities and is in good condition.  It has an auditorium and more than adequate classroom facilities.  We have several acres of ground to provide room for future expansion.

Custer receives many visitors, especially during the summer tourist season.  One of our responsibilities is to provide Christian fellowship and worship opportunities for those visitors.

Custer is located in the beautiful Black Hills of western South Dakota and is the oldest town in the Black Hills.  A town of 1,800, we are located in the southern part of the Black Hills . One of Custer's most appealing features is its setting. The city is studded with picturesque granite outcroppings and flanked on all sides by Ponderosa pines.  Its mile-high elevation provides cool nights, even after the hottest summer days.  The city gains a great deal of its income from tourism.

Within a 30-minute drive from Custer are Mount Rushmore , Crazy Horse Memorial, Jewel Cave and Wind Cave National Parks, the 73,000 acre Custer State Park and the Black Hills National Forest.  Custer is surrounded by the National Forest which is composed of 1.2 million ponderosa pine-studded acres ranging in elevation as high as 7,242 feet. Amid the splendid scenery are 11 reservoirs, 30 campgrounds, 26 picnic areas, 2 scenic byways, 1,300 miles of streams, 13,426 acres of wilderness, over 450 miles of trails, and much more.

Rapid City is the largest town in the area, with a metro area population of over 100,000.  It is about 40 miles away and provides and excellent source for shopping, regional medical services, entertainment, dining and other commercial activities.  Ellsworth Air Force Base is about 10 miles from Rapid City.

The salary is open, depending on qualifications.
