1.
We believe that we should wear the name of Christ
both as a church (
2. We believe that it is wrong and sinful to wear human and party names.
(I Corinthians 1:10-12; 3:3-5)
3. We believe that the Bible is inspired of God and is perfect and complete in every way.
(Jude 3; II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:3; 1:20-21)
4. We reject all human creeds as wrong and sinful.
(Matthew 15:6-13; Mark 7:6-9; Titus 1:14; Colossians 2:18-22)
5. We believe that the Old Testament (as a law or rule of faith and practice) has been taken away, and we are not to be directed or governed by it in this dispensation. (Romans 6:14; Colossians 2:14; Ephesians 2:15; Galatians 3:24-25; 4:30; Hebrews 7:12; 10:9-19; Romans 7:4; II Corinthians 3:7-10)
6. We believe that in this dispensation Jesus Christ has all authority and power, and we must obey His will in all things. (Matthew 17:5; 28:18-20; Acts 3:22; Ephesians 1:20-23; Colossians 3:17; II John 9; I Peter 3:22; Hebrews 5:8-9).
7. We believe that Christ’s will, law or commands are revealed, not in the Old Testament, but the New. (Hebrews 9:15-17; John 14:26; 16:13-14; II Corinthians 3:6; Ephesians 3:6; I Corinthians 14:37)
8. We believe it is wrong and sinful to alter, pervert, add to, or take from, the Lord’s revealed will in the Scriptures. (II John 9; I Corinthians 4:6; Galatians 1:7-9; Revelation 22:18-19)
9. We believe that the plan of salvation or terms of pardon as found in the great commission of Christ (Matthew 28; Mark 16; and Luke 24), and as carried out by the New Testament church in the book of Acts (2, 8, 10, etc.); faith in God and His Son (Hebrews 11:6; John 8:21-24; Acts 16:31); repentance of all past sins (Luke 13:3; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 17:30; II Peter 3:9); a confession of our faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God (Matthew 10:32; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 8:36-37); a baptism in water “for” or “unto” salvation, or the remission of sins. (Mark 16:16; I Peter 3:21; Acts 2:38; 22:16; 10:48; 8:36-39)
10. We believe all men will be lost who do not obey the gospel or word of truth. Man’s salvation depends upon a faith that leads to obedience. (Hebrews 11:8; Romans 6:17; I Peter 1:22; Romans 2:8-9; II Thessalonians 1:7-9)
11. We teach and warn against all false doctrines, systems and teachers and show the dangers and consequences in following them (I John 4:1-2; II John 9-11; II Peter 2:1-2; Matthew 7:15-27; II Corinthians 11:13-15)
12. We believe there is one church, as all will readily admit there was only one in apostolic times long before any denomination ever existed. We affirm that this same or identical church still exists today. (Ephesians 1:22-23, 4:4-6; Romans 12:4-5; I Corinthians 12:13, 20; Colossians 1:18, 24)
13. We teach and stand for godly living, purity of life, and holiness exemplified before the world. (James 1:27; Hebrews 12:14; II Corinthians 6:17-18; Titus 2:11-12)
14. We teach that a saved person – a child of God – must be faithful to the Lord. It is the condition on which God keeps and preserves His children. (I Peter 1:5, 9; Colossians 1:23; Revelation 2:10; Matthew 25:14, 21)
15. We teach that a child of God can “fall from grace” and is in danger of departing from the faith (I Timothy 4:1) – failing to fulfill or meet the conditions God has given and thereby can be lost eternally. (I Corinthians10:12; I Peter 1:10; 3:17: Galatians 5:4; Revelation 2:5; James 5:12; 19-20; I Corinthians 9:27; Hebrews 3:12; 4:1; 4:11)
16. Every item of our worship is authorized by the Lord, taught in His New Testament and practiced by the New Testament church. We can do this in truth and by faith. Beyond this we cannot – we dare not go. We sing (Colossians 3:16; Ephesians 5:19; I Corinthians 14:15; Hebrews 13:15); we partake of the Lord’s Supper on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7); we give as we have been prospered and have purposed in our hearts (I Corinthians 16:2; II Corinthians 9:6-10; Acts 2:24); we pray (Acts 2:42; I Thessalonians 5:18); and we study God’s word (Acts 20:7; Acts 2:42)
17. We teach that it is our work, duty and mission among men to: (a) Maintain spiritual and reverential worship (as outlined above); (b) To assist the poor, widows, and orphans and help the needy; (Matthew 26:11; Galatians 2:10; James 1:27; Galatians 6:10); (c) Teach or edify the church and build up our own membership in love (Ephesians 4:11-16; II Peter 3:18; Hebrews 6:1); and (d) Preach the gospel and save the lost souls. (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16)
Kind
friends, we believe you will readily agree that you have nothing to lose in
carefully investigating the scriptures cited above, and then obeying the
instructions of our Lord as found therein. It
could be that heaven is now hanging in the balance.
Surely your soul is so important, and your eternal happiness so dear,
that you will want to check up on these things.
Will you not turn to your Bible and carefully and prayerfully examine
these points? And please contact us if you have any questions!!!
