The “Book of Romans Road to Salvation”
The “Romans Road to Salvation”, as it is often referred to by our
denominational friends and neighbors, is not correct
and here’s why. Although it starts out in a very Biblically-accurate
and Bible-based direction, it eventually takes an off-ramp from the straight and
narrow with a very twisted application of Scripture. Here’s the general
direction it usually takes:
You are a sinner:
Romans 3:23-25 (ESV)
…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are
justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ
Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation
by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness,
because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.
You need forgiveness
of your sins: Romans 4:7-8 (ESV)
Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered;
blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.
You can have
forgiveness of your sins, and peace with God, by faith: Romans
5:1-2 (ESV) Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with
God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by
faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of
God.
God will give you
the free gift of forgiveness through Jesus Christ: Romans 6:23 (ESV) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of
God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
You will not be condemned for your sins once you receive this free gift of God’s grace:
Romans 8:1 (ESV)
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
All you have to do
right now to be saved, is confess and believe!!! Romans 10:9-10 (ESV)
…because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe
in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the
heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is
saved.
And then they go on to say something like: “And if you want to now
accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, just say a prayer
something like this…” (‘At which point a man-made, non-Biblically
documented, or ever referenced, or Biblically-supported prayer is stated…If
this is Biblical, where’s their reference?!? It’s never, ever, ever
‘tract’- noted as are the rest of the references! What does that tell you?)
Then
you are told you are saved, based on (so they say) Romans 10:9-10, which is
where the “
The problem is, this “prayer of
faith” is where they exit OFF of the
Highway to Heaven!!! There’s no Scripture reference for the prayer ever listed
on their tracts, because no such prayer was ever taught, or even hinted at for
salvation, by Christ or His apostles in the thousands of examples we have of N.T.
conversions to Christ since His church was established in Acts 2!!! What a
tragic place to lead people! ‘To believe that they are saved, when the
Scripture teaches the REST OF THE WAY TO SALVATION, AND THEY STOP, AND DETOUR,
AND WIND UP SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN HEAVEN, BECAUSE IN REALITY, THEIR FAITH IS NOT
IN JESUS, because they fail to submit to what He so clearly said that one must
do to be forgiven/saved, and substitute this practice instead!
