What
Are All The Components That
Are All Absolutely
Essential
In Order For One To Be Saved?
If one were to bake an apple pie, and leave out just one ingredient - the apples, the desired end result would not be accomplished. If a computer company left out just one component –the hard drive; or an automobile manufacturer left out the engine, the end result would be a useless piece of worthless junk. The end result would not be the intended one. What about the importance of attaining the end result when it comes to your desire to be saved?
According to God’s Word, the Bible, sinners are saved--
A. By Belief/Faith in Christ: Luke 8:12, John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Romans 3:22, 1st Corinthians 1:21, Ephesians 2:8.
B. Through Jesus: John 3:17, 14:6, Acts 4:12, Romans 5:9-10, Hebrews 7:25.
C.
By Calling on His Name: Matthew
28:19, Acts 2:21, 38, 4:12, Romans 10:12-13.
NOTE: The Bible clearly and unquestionably shows, that this is NOT done by saying some prayer that cannot be found in Scripture, but by being baptized, based on faith, into Christ, for the forgiveness of one’s sins (Acts 2:38, and 22:16). Biblical Baptism is often referred to in Scripture as “obeying the gospel”, which is what the whole point of Romans 10:12-13 is meant, in it’s natural flow and context, to lead to; see verses 14-21, and just how clear this is.
D. By God’s Mercy: Titus 3:5.
E. By Grace: Acts 15:11, Romans 3:23-24, Ephesians 2:4-9.
F.
By Being Baptized: Mark 16:16, Acts
2:40-41, 1st Peter 3:21.
--For the Forgiveness of Sins:
Acts 2:38.
--To Receive the Gift of the
Holy Spirit: Acts 19:1-5.
--To be saved: 1st
Peter 3:21
--Into Christ: Romans
6:3-4, Galatians 3:26-27.
--Where all God’s blessings are: Romans 8, Ephesians 1&2.
G. By confessing Jesus as Lord: Matthew 6:14-15, Romans 10:9.
H.
And by obeying Jesus as Lord: Luke
6:46-49, John 14:15
Some religious teaching omits one or more of the above essential
components of biblical salvation, therein contradicting God, Whom, as stated and
referenced, said that each and every one saves you. To say therefor, that any
one is expendable, or unnecessary in order to be saved, is to call God’s
Holy-Spirit dictated Instruction/Word (2nd Peter 1:20-21), a lie, and
hence, to perish (Matthew 12:31-32).
Some religious teaching further states that once one is saved, he/she
cannot lose their salvation, another blatant disregard and denial of the Word of
God (See Galatians 5:4, Hebrews 6:4-6, 10:26-31, 2nd Peter 2:20-22).
We cannot simply stop, with the incomplete picture from above, as some do, to
their own destruction. (See also the comprehensive and complete study about
falling from grace on this website).
Therefor, the question becomes: “Once one has been initially
saved by the above listed, what further
components are vital to staying
saved (or maintaining their ‘saved’ status?”). For those components are
every bit as vital to being saved in the end
as the above; because God said so too, as noted; we are saved:
I. By loving the Truth of God’s Word: 1 Corinthians 15:2, 2 Thessalonians 2:10, James 1:21.
J. By continuing in the teaching: 1st Timothy 4:16, 2nd Peter 1:5-11, and chapter 3.
K.
By living a new life, begun
at baptism (John 3:3-5, Romans
6:1-23, 2nd Corinthians 5:17),
made complete by
a life now lived in obedience to God’s teaching: Mark 8:34-38,
Luke
6:46-49, Romans 6:1-18, Galatians 5:16-25, 1st John 2:3-6; including:
--Doing
God’s will: Matthew 7:21-23, Hebrews 10:32-39.
--Doing
good works, which validate our faith: James 2:14-26,
and
which validate God’s investment in us: Ephesians 2:10.
--Loving one another: 1st John 3:11-4:21.
L By enduring to the end: Matthew 10:22, Mark 13:13, Hebrews 10:26-39, Revelation 2&3.
All 11 components are completely essential, completing the process of our salvation (Matthew 4:4); 1, 2, 3, or even 10 out of 11, will not do, according to the will of God. We are saved by them all, according to the Word of God.
